There are a couple of myths that have managed to stay alive to this day, even if they are really old and not very trustworthy by this point. The Templars were definitely real when the European continent was in turmoil back in the middle ages, but people believe that their order hasn’t vanished over the centuries. Whether you believe it or not, the legend has spawned some interesting theories.
Mystery Crusaders: Resurgence of the Templars Collector's Edition is a point-and-click adventure game designed to be easy-to-play and intriguing at the same time, although the mystery never gets very complex. In essence, your role is to find interesting objects and use them to unlock the way further into the story. Every now and again, a different kind of puzzle makes an appearance, pushing you think outside the box.
Story-wise, it all revolves around an ancient artifact known as The Blue Veil. Although it has been considered lost for centuries, your partner manages to track it down, only to be stopped by a criminal organization. Defying all logic and danger, you decide to investigate into the artifact and pick up from where your partner left, which obviously attracts the attention of the said criminal organization.
The gameplay should be all-too-familiar to the fans of the genre, because it is basically the same in almost every game such as this one. In short, you have to keep investigating the environments until you find every item worth examining. Some of these objects can be carried in your inventory, only to be used later on to solve another puzzle. The hidden object sequences are as classic as they can get, although they do contain a few items that need a bit of tinkering to find.
Visually, everything is as colorful as you might expect, although it is in no way too childish to be enjoyable. A great deal of work went into the level design, and it is quite easy to get lost in the sea of details included by the designers. There are not many animations, not even during the cutscenes, but there are plenty of moving objects you get to interact with along the way.
Even if it is not as complex as a true adventure game, Mystery Crusaders: Resurgence of the Templars Collector's Edition can keep you glued to the screen for a couple of hours. Some of the puzzles can be quite demanding, even if most of them do not make sense in the grand scheme of things.
