Moorhuhn Jump'n Run

The lost city of Atlantis spawned countless stories and legends over the years, even if the city itself is only mentioned in mythological writings. However, that did not stop people from dreaming and many adventurers from trying to find its ruins at the bottom of the sea, despite the odds of stumbling into it.

Moorhuhn Jump'n Run is a basic platformer in which you have to help a wacky chicken reach Atlantis and witness its glory, while avoiding all the traps and dangers along the way. The story itself is not very deep and it is barely mentioned throughout the game, but the theme is constantly represented through the use of suggestive architecture and a trail of treasure that leads to the fabled ancient metropolis.

Most of the gameplay revolves around being able to avoid falling into pits and jumping over things, while also keeping up with a timer that's constantly running. The traps themselves vary when it comes to appearance, but they are all deadly and you must avoid them at any cost. There are enemies as well, who practice their classic patrol routes and force you to jump over them in order to move further into the level.

Given the fact that the city is obviously underwater, there are plenty of levels that feature the ocean as the greatest enemy, since you only have a limited amount of oxygen available and the obstacles are that much more difficult to avoid. However, the landscapes are always dreamy and well designed, although they might lack detail from time to time. There are many statues, old ruins and various other architectural objects to admire as well, especially as you get closer to the fabled city.

Beside having to avoid being killed by the monsters, you also have to keep an eye out for golden items and various coins, all of which allow you to increase your score and unlock various bonuses when you've got enough of them. The graphics are pretty nice and colorful, even if they lack detail and more work could have went into the animations.

In the end, Moorhuhn Jump'n Run is quite the decent platformer, even if it doesn't really impress with anything and there are no new mechanics to make the gameplay more fun. If you just want to have a bit of fun and jump from ledge to ledge for a few minutes, on the other hand, the game can definitely fill in that particular need.
