Few monuments are as well known as Mount Rushmore, probably because it’s still staggering to think that someone sculpted an entire mountain. However, it’s also amazing to think about the whole process, given the fact that such a project would have required quite a few resources. Not only that, but the manpower was vital as well.

Monument Builders: Rushmore is a time management game in which your goal is to gather the necessary resources required to build the monument and make sure that everything else goes according to plan. Obviously, the gameplay mechanics are very simple and intuitive, so most of your job is about making sure that the roads are clear and that various facilities are working at full capacity.

Each mission has a few tasks you have to accomplish, such as gathering a certain amount of resources, or building a new facility somewhere on the map. Speaking of which, the maps are different for every mission, but they still look very similar. The resources come a variety of forms as well, including wood, food, gunpowder and cash.

Erecting new building and repairing damaged ones are tasks that require resources, so it’s important that your workers are always out there trying to gather whatever they can put your hands on. Unfortunately, one of them can work at a time if the road forward is blocked, so it’s kind of annoying to see the other worker not doing much of anything until most of the road is cleared.

Given the fact that this is a time management game, it’s also important that you keep an eye on the clock, otherwise you are not awarded any medals. There are three different time frames you can qualify for, although it takes a bit of practice until you are able to move quickly enough. You also have to prioritize some of the tasks in the right order to avoid losing time.

In the end, Monument Builders: Rushmore is not much of an original concept in any way, but it features quite the challenge and enough missions to keep you busy for a few hours. It also looks pretty nice, even if the graphics are two-dimensional.
