MechWarrior 3 Demo

Giant mechanized armors may not ever be designed and put into practice as we have seen them imagined in movies and cartoons, but not because the technology won't allow it. In fact, because the technology is already pretty advanced, drones and unmanned vehicles would make such contraptions useless on the battlefield, not to mention much more dangerous for the person controlling them.
MechWarrior 3 still had reasons to hope at the time, though, which is why the episode at hand happens to be the third entry in the franchise and it still enjoyed a lot of popularity when it was released. Thanks to the many innovations when it came to graphics, gameplay and level design, the game managed to mesmerize its audience and remain pretty well cemented in history as a true jewel of the genre, although this niche is not particularly popular anyway.
Story-wise, the events are still linked to the Inner Sphere, although this time a clan by the name of Smoke Jaguar is also involved. In essence, they intend to reunite the clans and cause some trouble, which is definitely not what the good way to go, considering the belligerent nature of the individuals who are part of these clans. Naturally, you and your team are tasked with putting an end to their plans.
As always, the shooting itself is pretty entertaining and fun, but the most important part is that you are free to customize your mechs in any way you can imagine. Thus, starting from the obvious gun upgrades and armor plating, it is also possible to opt for better internal components as well, which affect various attributes, such as speed and resistance. There are many different combinations to try out and test in battle, which should keep you occupied for a long time.
A lot of work went into the graphics engine as well, which was quite the achievement almost two decades ago. The environments might lack detail and the textures may be very low-resolution, but the mechs are very nicely modeled and animated, which makes the battles that much more exciting and atmospheric. The sound is good as well, with plenty of nice effects and a decent soundtrack in the background from time to time.
In the end, there aren't many other games that address this particular genre, and especially not many that got it right. Thus, MechWarrior 3 is definitely the one to play, especially if you are a fan of robots and you do not mind the rather outdated graphics.
