A role-playing game set in the Citte della Ombre that combines a great story, fighting, and magic #Songs and Shadows #Masquerada game #Role playing game #Masquerada #Role playing game #RPG
Masquerada: Songs and Shadows is an action role-playing game that takes place in old Venice. It’s developed by Witching Hour Studios and published by Ysbryd Games.
Masquerada: Songs and Shadows will most likely take you by surprise since. If you’re a serious player then you have already tried pretty much all the major role-playing games that have been released in the past ten years, at least. It hard to surprise fans of this genre with new games, but it’s not impossible, as the developers from Witching Hour Studios have already shown.
The game has yet to be released at the time this review was written, so it’s very likely that Masquerada: Songs and Shadows will probably get even better until its launch. It’s clear that the team has put in a lot of effort into this game and that it’s not just another RPG with generic gameplay.
The action takes place in Citte della Ombre, and it details the adventures of Cicero Gavar, a former exiled that’s been summoned back to find who has kidnapped Razitof Azrus, a well-known diplomat.
This is a world that is bursting with magic, so it’s not a recreation of actual Venice. In any case, the players control three characters at once, in a MOBA fashion. Each of them have special powers and attacks.
It’s possible to pause the gameplay so that you can issue orders and to control each character individually, but that’s only happening during battles. A nice feature is the automatic fighting system, which allows players to issue the attack command and the characters even use their special powers, to the best of their abilities.
From the looks of it, the developers wanted to provide people the option of playing the game in a more casual manner that doesn’t require micromanagement. It’s a nice receive if you don’t want to issue dozens of orders in a single battle.
Masquerada: Songs and Shadows is built on the Unity engine, and the developers did a great job with it. The effects of the special powers and the animations look really nice, making the gameplay very believable.
The demo version is quite long, and it shows just what the players should expect from Masquerada: Songs and Shadows.
