MTX: Mototrax Demo
Unlike cars, motorbikes provide you with a more intimate connection with the ground beneath you, since you are always one wrong move away from experiencing nature from a hands-on perspective. This is partly what makes them so exciting, though, and definitely what makes the sport so popular among the fans.
In MTX: Mototrax, you get the chance to compete in some of the most intense races out there, as well as ride powerful bikes and reach the finish line with all of your limbs intact. As in any motocross race, the tracks are specifically designed to make it hard for the participants to abstain themselves from performing a stunt or two, due to the unnatural number of dirt ramps scattered across it.
After the first couple of laps, when you accustom yourself with the bike and the handling system, the seconds you spend up in the air start to lack substance. Fortunately, there is a way to fill them, by performing one of the many tricks the game puts at your disposal. Thus, whether your legs dangle five feet away from the bike, or your hands find some other place to be than on the handles, with a bit of courage, you can transform every ramp into a dare and make the entire race more entertaining.
You shouldn't forget to keep an eye on your opponents as well, since they won't be too impressed by your stunts and leave you behind whenever you give them the opportunity. In the end, the position you finish the race on is the factor that is taken into consideration to decide whether you move on to the next event or not. Because of this, tricks should be used when you find yourself in a good spot and you have the certainty they do not affect the outcome of the race in any way.
Since beside the dirt track and the bikes there is barely anything else on the screen most of the time, extra attention has been awarded to the motorbikes, which translates into detailed models, high resolution textures and plenty of effects to go around. The simulation is advanced enough to portray suspension stress and tire drifts whenever you take a sharper turn, as well as quite the falls when you miscalculate a jump.
There are multiple modes you can enjoy MTX: Mototrax in, including the already mentioned Motocross, as well as Supercross, Freestyle and some other special events, more of which are unlocked as you keep on winning races. The purpose, however, is to try and have some fun while you're doing it, sometimes at the risk of losing the events.
