Very few people see the beauty in numbers, which is only natural, considering the fact that they are far more difficult to arrange into poems than letters and words are. Surely, equations can be regarded as poems and there are hefty books written to deconstruct their meaning and answer, but you need to properly understand a variety of other concepts before you can do that on your own.
MATHZZLE is quite direct about its purpose and idea right from the name, in the sense that you probably won’t have to strain too hard to figure out what’s waiting for you after the application is executed. Hence, it’s a puzzle game with mathematical notions and operations instead of the usual elements, which means that it can be used as an educational tool as well.
In essence, your purpose is to move a couple of blocks around the level and match the ones that share the same result after the operation is executed. However, things are not as simple as that, because many other factors influence your ability to move the blocks. Moving platforms require a bit of coordination and anticipation in order to be used effectively.
Although you can start with simple additions and subtractions, things can escalate rather quickly if you wish to do so. Multiplication is included as well, and you have the possibility to include all the operations at once into the puzzles. Granted, this is still dedicated to children and young students, so the answers won’t be too hard to find, but it can still take a bit of time to properly calculate paths and solutions.
Many other customization options are included as well, such as the fact that you can decide how many of a certain kind of operation are to be included. In case you feel much braver than that, you can even use the included editor to create your own stages, although it takes a bit of practice to do so. However, thanks to the basic graphics engine, the editor becomes manageable after only a few attempts.
All things considered, MATHZZLE is still a game that sports many numbers and very few Pokemons, so it probably won’t be as successful or enjoyable. On the other hand, it can help your child learn how to use maths in a much more playful manner.
