There are many incredible stories about ancient civilizations, but even more legends and myths that keep people’s imagination running wild. These stories are usually told with the help of interactive experiences, such as video games, which allow you to really get into the adventure. However, the mechanics are very important, because they can distract you from the fun if they are too annoying.

Lost Artifacts is a time management game that challenges you to solve levels as quickly as possible, while also visiting the ruins of the Aztec civilization and maybe find out more about their culture. Not much is new in the gameplay department, on the other hand, since all you have to do is click on things and make sure that you move as quickly as you can in order to get a three-star rating.

The story centers on Claire, a historian and archaeologist who is interested in ancient civilizations and their secrets. One day, she discovers a map that supposedly leads to a great Aztec treasure, so she decides to follow it and see what’s what. Thus, the whole game focuses on Claire’s journey and the marvelous things she finds along the way.

In case you are not familiar with time management flicks, the action is as straightforward as it gets, which means that your task is to collect resources from around the map, clear the roads, restore buildings and take care of various other objectives. All of this is achieved through simple clicking, but the order is important, and there’s also a time limit that increases the challenge a little bit as well.

You can disable this limit by choosing the easy mode, which is great if you want to have a relaxing time and follow the story, but the true fun starts when you really have to put some effort into each stage. Speaking of which, every level is unique in terms of design, so there are plenty of interesting maps to explore along the way, even if your interaction with them is very limited.

Lost Artifacts is far from original in terms of mechanics, but at least you get to be a part of an exciting journey and have a good time. The levels are challenging if you keep the time limit on.
