Legendary Towers Demo
Defend your base with powerful towers and upgrade them in order to deal additional damage. #Tower defense #Strategy game #Casual strategy #Strategy #Tower #Defense
Although you may believe that it’s fairly simple to design a tower defense game, it’s actually much more complicated, but not for the usual reasons. Hence, while the core concept is indeed quite easy to understand and put into practice, the gameplay is very difficult to get right. Altogether, the final game must provide the players with a combination of fun, strategy, and quite the challenge.
Legendary Towers is not a brilliant game, that much is obvious from the start. It tries to be simple and appeal to everyone, but unless this is your first tower defense game and you don’t normally play strategy games, the simplicity can be quite disappointing. Hence, there are only three different towers to choose from, at least in the beginning.
These towers can then be upgraded, but they are still connected to one of the three talent trees, namely lightning, fire and ice. The upgrades allow you to cast powerful abilities, which can obliterate a large number of enemies at once. While this is indeed helpful, it gets repetitive to play with the same couple of spells all the time, because it’s tough to diversify your strategies this way.
Not much information is given about the monsters or the reason they are attacking your base, except for the fact that they are demons and you must stop them from reaching the portal that takes them to your world. Obviously, these demons vary in speed, health and special abilities, but you can pretty much destroy anything if you deal as much damage as possible.
On the other hand, you can only place the towers in fixed places around the map, and there is only a handful of them. This yet again denies your ability to come up with your own strategies, which is not what you want from a game that theoretically encourages replayability. Moreover, the graphics are very basic as well, probably because the game was initially designed for Android devices.
Legendary Towers is not exactly bad, but it needs more content and variety in order to be worth someone’s time. However, you can show your support even now by voting for the game on Steam Greenlight.
