The purpose of a puzzle game is to challenge the players in one way or another, regardless of whether it’s a physical skill or a cognitive one. Hence, while some puzzles require you to move quickly and have impeccable reaction times, others are designed to be figured out after minutes of pondering and trial and error. All of these variations have their charm, however, so it’s up to you to choose one.

  Legendary Slide II is a puzzle game in which you have to solve levels by clearing all the tiles from a maze by moving them around in precise patterns and matching them two-by-two. It’s fairly simple to do so at first, but more obstacles are added along the way, and the mazes become more intricate too. Thus, the later stages require quite a bit of tinkering in order to be solved.

To begin with, the main goal is to get two tiles with the same symbol near each other in order to clear them from the screen. Sometimes you have to perform clever permutations in order for this to be possible, and it’s also worth mentioning that you can ruin your chances by making the wrong move, because pieces can get permanently stuck in holes or dead ends.

The game rewards you with up to three stars for your efforts, depending on how many moves you require to clear everything from the maze. More mechanics are added later on, including multi-leveled mazes, as well as immovable tiles that require extra steps in order to be cleared. As a side note, it would be nice for the game to feature a quick reset button, because you often have to try again after a mistake, and the restart option is hidden in the main menu panel.

Lastly, the graphics are nothing to write home about, but then again this does not matter too much in a puzzle game such as this one. Even so, the textures are pretty colorful and detailed, as are the tiles and the backgrounds that change every couple of stages. The music gets on your nerves after a while, but thankfully it can be turned down or muted entirely.

Legendary Slide II is definitely not a revolutionary game, but the high difficulty level should attract those who enjoy a challenge. It features enough levels to keep you busy for a few hours.
