Last Knight: Rogue Rider Edition Demo

Last Knight: Rogue Rider Edition is a combination of an endless runner and a jousting simulation, all wrapped in funny package powered by the Unreal engine.

Let’s face it, most of the endless running games are simply boring. They might start as interesting, but when you try them the second day, they start to lose any appeal that they might have had.

The basic idea is not enough to keep people coming back, although I do have to admit that it's a good way to spend some time during morning commute. Not everyone wants to play a complex RPG at the subway.

Last Knight: Rogue Rider Edition is a game that took the endless running concept and took it to a new level. It’s not difficult to innovate in a domain where games only have a small number of features, so any kind of addition are always welcome.

The players take the role of squire that wants to become a knight, so he starts an adventure. It’s not a terribly complicated story, and it doesn’t really need one, but it’s nice that it's there.

Basically, players will start playing in a map that constantly being generated by the Unreal Engine. Since no two maps unravel the same, it’s impossible to learn where the obstacle are, making this game a lot more difficult than you would imagine.

Controlling the horse is not difficult since its running all the time. You only need to pay attention to what’s happening, avoid obstacles, take down other knights that are doing the same thing, defeat the snowman, tackle the skeletons, and try no to die.

Some contact is permitted, but only if it's tangential. If you take a fence head on you’re doing to die. If you misjudge the length of the jump over a river, you’re doing to die. If you don’t joust when the black riders come you’re going to die.

To complete the funny world of Last Knight: Rogue Rider Edition, the developers took advantage of the physics engine, and each crash is or hilarious than the previous one. The demo version has only a dedicated Christmas-inspired map.
