Lancelot's Hangover: The Quest for the Holy Booze Demo
Find the Holy Grail at God's request and use it to get drunk in this humorous point & click adventure game #Point & click #Adventure game #Monty python #Lancelot #Adventure #Quest
As a rule of thumb, every person has a different sense of humor, so it’s a good idea to test the waters before dropping jokes on a sensitive subject when you are out in the world with your friends or relatives. However, things like films, music or video games are ways for people to express their humor and reach out to those who think alike, which translates into complete artistic freedom.
Lancelot's Hangover: The Quest for the Holy Booze is not your typical point & click adventure game, and that’s obvious from the first few minutes of gameplay. It’s vibrant and silly, always two steps away from pure insanity, yet never too far from a fart joke. On top of that, everything looks like a medieval version of a Pink Floyd show, and the puzzles are the textbook definition of counterintuitive.
As you may have gathered so far, the game is heavily inspired by Monty Python’s Holy Grail movie, but there’s plenty of original insanity here as well. The story puts you in the role of the famous Lancelot, who’s on a quest to find the Holy Grail after God tells him to do so. However, the reason for this endeavor is so that you can use the said grail to get plastered at the biggest party in England.
It’s not easy to figure out how to play the game. In fact, a guide would be nice to have in the final version, because it takes a while to understand how the mechanics work. As such, most puzzles require you to move objects or interact with them, but unlike in a classic point & click game, timing is important as well. Thus, your actions may not have the desired effect if you do not time them correctly.
Dialog is a vital part of the game too, at least when the characters on the screen are able to talk. There are usually multiple lines to choose from, but it’s a tad difficult to say whether what you choose to respond has any effect on how the story progresses. This might be connected to the unique visual style employed by the game, because you can rarely pay attention to the dialog when all sorts of weird things happen all around you.
Lancelot's Hangover: The Quest for the Holy Booze is still in a pretty rough shape at the moment, mainly because it’s a very early build. There are bugs and glitches that need to be fixed, and the interface needs a bit of polish as well. However, the humor is on point, and it should be a blast to experience the whole thing from start to finish.
