Invading armies rarely care about preserving the lands they are trying to conquer, which is not in anyone’s best interest. There are many stories about sieges that went on for years, on the other hand, so you have to wonder how it must have been to be stuck between the walls of a city for years on end. However, this rarely got to be the case, because most invaders were met on the battlefield.

Labyrinths of the World: The Devil's Tower is a mystery game with hidden object elements, in which you have to solve a dangerous case and save the world at the same time. Not much can be said about the story, but at least there are a few interesting ideas at play, especially in terms of characters. The puzzles are designed to keep your mind occupied for a few hours.   The plot starts when the main character’s sister is about to become a Seeker, one of those special people with neat powers. However, the whole thing is overshadowed by some kind of invading army that threatens to take over the world, and it is your duty to stop it by any means. Things get even more exciting along the way, especially since all sorts of supernatural events start to take place.

The mechanics are not very different from every other HOPA out there, which means that your main goal is to investigate every scene for useful items and pick them up in your inventory. Some of these objects can be combined later on and used to solve actual puzzles, while others are just there to give you something to do. It’s also possible to skip puzzles if you find them too difficult, or even replace them with match-three mini-games instead.   As far as the graphics are concerned, you probably won’t find anything new or exciting here in terms of level design and characters, but the quality is definitely up there. Each scene is very detailed and nicely designed to create the proper atmosphere, and it also helps that there are many cutscenes complete with voice acting to inspire some life into the story.

Even if Labyrinths of the World: The Devil's Tower fails to bring new elements to the table in terms of gameplay, it certainly has all it requires to keep the fans of the genre glued to the screen for a few hours. Hence, it’s a must-play if you are a HOPA enthusiast and you do not mind the lack of original concepts.
