The stories featuring legendary Jedi warriors have made their way across the vast galaxy more than once, thanks to their exquisite combat skills and their ability to use the force to their advantage. The rebellion and the wars taking place on almost every planet might sound like grim topics, but they can also turn out to be quite the hilarious adventure.

LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy manages to make the dire faith of the universe look silly and funny, by transforming everything into lego pieces. Hence, the evil forces of the dark side are not so frightening when they lack the joints to properly handle a lightsaber and a slip on the stairs usually means complete dismemberment.

As you might have guessed, your role in the story is to take control over a party of the good guys and attempt to stop the Empire from achieving their plans. Thus, by using each character's special powers and abilities, you can make your way through the story and defeat more and more powerful enemies, as well as save the galaxy from certain doom under the dark side's less-than-cheerful reign. Naturally, you are able to play as some of the most famous characters from the movies, including Ben Kenobi, Luke Skywalker and many others that make their appearance at certain points in the story.

Gameplay-wise, the game sports a very laid-back attitude towards the combat between you and the soldiers trying to stop you. Hence, you do not have to pay too much attention to the actual fights, especially since the characters can be disintegrated any number of times and still come back in their original shape. Droids, on the other hand, do suffer some damage before succumbing to death, by losing arms and legs in the process.

Because the game has no concerns for realism or any other similar concepts, the graphic engine has a very tooney appearance, which is perfect for rendering the amusing figurines that act as placeholders for the characters. Thus, you never get tired of watching the awkward droids trying to walk with even less joints than in the movie, especially when they happen to be missing a leg.

To top it all off, LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy can be played in cooperative mode on the same screen, which allows you to take on the legendary adventures side-by-side with a friend. Thanks to this, the game becomes a lot more fun and entertaining, although you should pay attention to the friendly fire while you are playing.
