Knight Rider Demo
Time to take KITT for a spin and stop the bad guys from achieving their evil plans #KITT car #Sentient car #Racing game #Knight #Rider #Drive
TV series from a few decades ago were a bit less concerned about appearing to be realistic and were far more concerned about whether they featured enough explosions in each new episode. Knight Rider was definitely among the most popular shows from the 80s, not to mention one of the most ludicrous productions ever aired on television.
To keep up with the times, Knight Rider was adapted into a video game with the same name, one that features just as much action, plenty of crazy plot lines and all the explosions one might wish for. Naturally, you are in charge of driving the famous KITT around, as well as making use of its abilities in order to get out of dangerous situations and dealing with the bad guys.
The story behind the events is too thin to make out properly, but the overall theme seems to be centered around villains who want to hurt other people, take over the city or just test out their arsenal. You do not get too much time to think about it, on the other hand, since you are usually too busy speeding away from falling boulders and avoiding landmines, while also pursuing getaway helicopters.
Once a pursuit is in progress, you get the chance to engage KITT’s systems and perform some pretty spectacular stunts, most of which are easily recognizable from the TV series. Although they feature pompous names such as “Super Pursuit Mode”, or “Turbo Boost”, you basically get to ride on two-wheels whenever you want to, or get a temporary speed boost while also jumping into the air, for an increased cinematic effect.
Speaking of which, every time you manage to perform a slightly longer jump, the cinematic camera mode is activated and everything moves in slow motion for a few seconds. However, the illusion crumbles once it switches back to the usual point of view, since graphics are not extraordinary and the control scheme is excruciating most of the time, as is the handling of the car itself.
Regardless of how fun it might sound and how amusing it seems at a first glance, the bad gameplay mechanics make Knight Riders very difficult to enjoy. There are no hints or tips about what you should be doing, while the controls seem to work against you regardless of how fast or slow you happen to be going.
