Make choices and complete dangerous quests in pursuit of glory and loot in this engaging RPG #Adventure game #Role-playing game #Interactive story #Adventure #Quest #RPG
Although a good story is a prerequisite for a great RPG, nowadays there’s more focus on being able to change the story as a player through your choices. This is obviously not easy to achieve, but there are plenty of games out there that proved it can be done. However, it’s not enough to reach different endings based on what you choose to do, because modern gamers expect multiple routes along the way as well.
Just One Line is an interesting RPG with text-based elements and a multiplayer component, in which the main goal is to complete quests in order to make your character stronger. Although this sounds like basically every other RPG on the market, the difference is that you get to make choices along the way, choices that affect how your character progresses and how various factions perceive you.
You start by creating a character from scratch, and there are plenty of options to pick from, including multiple races and classes. Not all of them are available from the start, on the other hand, so you have to complete a few playthroughs before unlocking other possible combinations. After that, you begin with a few gold coins to your name and a thirst for adventure.
Every mission you undertake has multiple routes, so there are situations where you can choose whether to spare your enemy or even ask them for ransoms. It’s also possible to fail even if you defeat the villains, because your actions can hurt innocent people if you are not careful. Naturally, you are rewarded with money and gear for complete quests, and you can also learn new skills along the way.
As far as the graphics are concerned, the game is a mixed bag, mainly because the interface looks pretty nice, but you are not allowed to move freely or explore the world at will. Instead, you only get to interact with text menus and buttons, which can be a bit anticlimactic if you are not used to text-based games. There are also some optimization issues at this point, but that’s pretty normal for an early access title.
In the end, the fact that you have a choice when it comes to the quests is what makes Just One Line such an enjoyable RPG. Hence, even if you are not a fan of text-based games, this one is definitely a much more colorful and enjoyable than what you usually find in the genre.
