Joint Task Force Demo
A real-time tactics game in which you get to command a small group of soldiers through a variety of modern conflicts #Task Force #Real-time tactics #Strategy game #Strategy #RTS #RTT
Most of the modern military operations involve only a handful of highly-trained soldiers, especially when the objective is to gather intelligence or take out a bad guy. However, the missions can still get pretty messy and unpleasant, especially if the commanding officer does not take the best decisions out on the field and puts his entire team in jeopardy.
Joint Task Force is a real-time tactics game in which you have full control over one of these squads and participate in a variety of dangerous missions all over the world, trying to bring down dictators and put an end to their devious plans. Since the team is usually formed out of no more than 6-7 people, you must pay attention to each and every one of them, otherwise you risk losing them in battle and the missions become almost impossible to finish.
As far as the story is concerned, the events are not exactly linked together from scenario to scenario, although each one of these mini-campaigns has multiple missions and certain objectives that lead toward the end goal. Hence, you get to travel to countries like Bosnia and Somalia, where the local leaders establish their very own brand of dictatorship and start threatening the peace throughout the region.
Out on the field, the action evolves much slower than in a classic strategy game, in the sense that you cannot just waltz around shooting at every enemy you come across. Instead, you must move from cover to cover and pay attention to the positioning of your soldiers. In case they get hurt, the doctor can heal them, but since the units die pretty quickly, this can only be done when there are no bullets flying around.
Because there is no base building involved in the gameplay, the money you receive after each mission can be used in other purposes, but mainly to purchase new and better equipment for the troops. While the said equipment may not amount to much in the beginning, later on you get enough cash to afford fully armored tanks, which, as you can guess, can come in handy on the battlefield and they can deal a huge amount of damage.
In the end, although Joint Task Force makes a rather strong case for itself, the missions are the weak point and they do not take full advantage of the possibilities put at your disposal. Moreover, the tactics can sometimes be made useless through brute force, which kind of ruins the entire purpose of the game.
