It's Killing Time is a text-based role-playing game in which you are provided with the opportunity to become an assassin and suffer no consequences whatsoever. Not only that, but his personality and style are left entirely up to you as well, which means that you can replay the story and try various approaches every time. Whether you want to emulate Agent 47 or be some kind of evil James Bond, the choice is up to you.

Speaking of which, the story is very flexible as well, since you have a word to say in it with every scene. The plot goes one direction or the other depending on what you choose to do, although you shouldn’t expect a very serious story to begin with. In fact, the whole thing is a bit childish and forced. On the other hand, this is a game about assassins, so it’s pretty tough to stay serious all the way through.

Just like all the other games designed on the same engine, you can keep track of your character’s reputation and various statistics by checking the in-game charts. Hence, whether you learn better hand-to-hand combat or you are more proficient with a gun, it all depends on the choices you make along the way. There are also things like righteousness and psychosis to watch out for.

Naturally, this is a text-based game, which means that everything on the screen is text and radio buttons to help you make a decision. It should be relatively easy to immerse yourself in the atmosphere after a few minutes, at least if you enjoy the story and the characters. However, the writing is a bit too forced sometimes, which is not good when there’s nothing else to distract you.

In the end, It's Killing Time could certainly keep you busy for a while, but you shouldn’t expect too much depth either. Hence, as long as you are prepared to deal with some annoyances, the game is quite decent.
