Interstellar Defence Troops Demo
Defend your space station from enemies and try out a variety of different game modes #Tower defense #Space defense #Strategy game #Tower #Defense #Space
Space games need to get a lot of things right in order to gather a crowd, because the standards are set quite high and the public is very picky as well. However, when the target audience is mostly formed out casual players and weekend gamers, it doesn’t really matter how accurate the concepts used are, or how original everything is when compared to the classics of the genre.
Interstellar Defence Troops is nothing more than a glorified tower defense game, because the gameplay mechanics are the same and the end goal is very similar as well. However, unlike in most tower defense game, there are multiple modes to choose from and the mechanics can vary a lot between them, which in turn provides you with a pretty unique experience as a whole.
The main purpose is for you to build a base and defend it against the vicious invaders that appear every once in a while. There are obviously a variety of different towers you can build and they can also be upgraded and customized to perform better against a specific type of enemy ship. There are also special abilities that can be used only a handful of times, but deliver impressive results.
Since the action takes place in space, it can be rather difficult to orientate yourself in the beginning, especially since there is no ground to guide you. However, after a few minutes, everything starts to make sense and it gets way easier. The simple camera controls also come in handy, especially since you can switch between the classic RTS and a free mode, which allows you to manually position your view as you wish.
Visually, the 3D graphics engine does a pretty decent job at rendering the towers, the ships, and the special effects. There’s nothing memorable about them, but some of the views can be quite mesmerizing, especially the colorful nebulae in the background. Other than that, most of the objects are way too small to be admired properly, unless you like squinting really hard.
In the end, Interstellar Defence Troops tried to do something special, but it didn’t quite get there. There are some interesting game modes you can try out to avoid the usual TD routine, but you don’t need a lot of creativity in order to play the game at hand, which means that you’ll get bored quickly.
