Inkanians

Inkanians is a monochromatic puzzle game with Sokoban inspiration that has you collecting diamonds by controlling an Inca block. The game throws at you a good number of mechanics that complicate the game just enough for it to be challenging and fun to play.

Playing Inkanians is quite easy because you will only need to use the directional keys to move the block in the way it needs to go to collect the diamonds. However, controlling the block is not the problem, getting it where it has to be is.

The catch is that once the block is given the command to move right, for example, it will stop only when it hits an obstacle. This means that the diamonds need to be in its path for you to collect them. This, along with the fact that your block gets destroyed when hitting certain objects and others, make the game quite tough at times.

Hitting skull blocks will destroy your collector, there are teleporters to use, some blocks push you away when you approach them, others can be destroyed and certain other types just hinder your progress.

Inkanians provides a good range of mechanics which make the game interesting and actually challenging at times. In a lot of cases the solution to a puzzle is very obvious but if you can’t visualize some moves before you make them, certain levels will keep you busy for a good couple of minutes. The game balances looks, features and difficulty very well.

To wrap it up, Inkanians is something you should try and and for its asking price, it’s also worth every penny. It looks good, it has a casual feel to it and it’s tough enough to get a good workout for your mind.
