Alien planets are usually depicted as barren wastelands full of toxic substances and horrible creatures, so it’s no wonder that many people are pretty wary when it comes to the exoplanets discovered by scientists in the last few years. Obviously, such scenarios are highly unlikely, although the toxic atmosphere is actually a very regular occurrence.

Infinite Desolation is a top-down RPG in which you also have to explore a little it and watch out for environmental dangers that can end your adventure in a second if you are not careful. In short, the game is heavily focused on character evolution and improvement, which means that you can increase a variety of attributes, as well as learn new skills that come in handy during your adventure.

The other important part of the game is the combat aspect, because you are constantly in danger of being attacked by hordes of alien monsters. They are not very smart, but they come in huge numbers, so it’s important that you learn how to move quickly and aim as accurately as possible. On the other hand, it’s also possible to use AOE weapons like the flamethrower and not worry an awful lot about accuracy.

As mentioned before, the environment is pretty dangerous as well, which means that you have to pay attention to every step, unless you want to wake up neck-deep in a pool of acid. Such traps usually mean instant death, which can be rage inducing. On the other hand, it makes the adventure a lot more engaging, not to mention challenging.

The game holds its own in the graphics department as well, even of the top-down perspective doesn’t allow you to get a close look at the environment. Thankfully, the textures and the object quality are more than decent, and so are the animations. Not much can be said about the sound department at the moment, but things are bound to get better once the full game is completed.

In the end, Infinite Desolation is definitely a game that should be on your watch list if you enjoy RPGs and sci-fi concepts. It appears to feature a pretty engaging set of gameplay mechanics, even if the environment is a tad boring at the moment.
