Humvee Assault - Iraq Demo

The war has changed quite a lot ever since technology allows the construction of incredible machinery, such as tanks, airplanes, drones and various other vehicles that can transport and protect the soldiers from enemy fire. However, these contraptions can also be used to deal some damage instead, since most of them are equipped with very powerful weapons on board.

Humvee Assault – Iraq is an action game that plays very much like a first-person shooter, only instead of a guy or a girl, you are a humvee and you roll around on a set of wheels. Other than that, the mechanics are almost the same and the objectives are also very similar, since all you need to do is clear a path in front of you and blow up everything, or everyone who tries to stop you from advancing further.

Story-wise, there isn't too much of a plot to talk about, since it all revolves around mindless shooting and explosions in order to maintain interest and explain the conflict. The important things are already mentioned in the name of the game, since it really is all about a humvee and war. Obviously, Iraq is also part of the equation, since that is where you will be spending most of your time and decimating the most enemies.

The shooting part would not be a problem, as long as the developers would have managed to make it exciting and interesting. However, the levels are just long and linear roads on which you have to stick to, in order to slowly advance through waves after waves of enemy tanks, soldiers and jeeps. Using either rockets or the minigun you have on board, you must do your best to obliterate them before they do the same to you, a gimmick which gets old in about 5-10 minutes of gameplay.

Hence, boredom installs rather quickly and you must occupy your mind with other in-game activities, which are also missing, or they are badly implemented. While the graphics per se are not bad, the special effects are not at all convincing and the vehicle models lack the proper polygon count most of the time. The sound department is not any different either, since everything sounds generic and not even remotely exciting or adrenaline-inducing.

All things considered, Humvee Assault – Iraq could have hit the jackpot, if only the developers tried to make the gameplay less repetitive and the levels much more attractive. However, without the proper incentive, the game fails to impress or provide you with a decent experience.
