Hospital Manager

Hospitals are not places people usually want to visit, but they are nonetheless very important in our modern society. Some countries charge the patients for the care their receive, while others fund their hospitals using the collected taxes. Regardless of how they operate, these facilities need to be equipped with state of the art equipment and good doctors, for the sake of the patients.

Hospital Manager is a casual sim game in which you get the chance to be in charge of a hospital, as well to make sure that every patient leaves in optimal health conditions. It is a pretty difficult task to undertake by yourself, but given the fact that the game makes it easy on you, there shouldn’t be too many problems. Your role is to build stuff most of the time, while everything else is handled by doctors.

Speaking of which, you also have to hire personnel to occupy the laboratories and consultation rooms that you build. You usually have multiple choices in this regard, depending on how much money you are willing to spend. Obviously, skills also raise with the salary, so you’ll at least get someone more qualified for more money. Whether it’s doctors, researchers or custodians, everyone has a role in the grand scheme of things.

As far as the actual gameplay is concerned, it’s rather disappointing to see that you do not have that much control over what’s happening in your hospital. Except for building the rooms, placing benches and hiring personnel, everything else is automatic. This means you’ll look at the screen most of the time, unable to do anything about all the patients that may leave your hospital disappointed.

You might also stumble into gameplay trouble, such as the fact that it can be difficult to figure out the interface sometimes. The camera controls are pretty tough to master as well, and it’s not as intuitive as you would hope to move around the already small map. Thankfully, at least the graphics are pretty smooth and colorful, although it doesn’t take long until the NPCs get very repetitive.

While Hospital Manager is not exactly awful, it certainly tries very hard to keep you away. The boring gameplay and the lack of interaction with your patients makes it difficult to stay excited about the experience. Still, you can have some moderate amounts of fun with the game, at least in the beginning.
