Highland Warriors Demo
Witness the greatest wars in British history and play your role in this, thanks to this real-time strategy game #Real-time strategy #Strategy game #Middle ages #Highland #Warrior #Strategy
Strategy games are usually either fantasy-based, sporting elves, orcs, and the usual magic spells, or they take place during one of the World Wars. Hence, there’s not much variety out there, which is why it’s quite the relief to see something that doesn’t belong to any of these. However, being different is not always enough to be worth the purchase, as is the case with the game at hand.
Highland Warriors takes place in the British islands, and it presents the conflict between the factions that disputed the land here, which is a nice change from the usual RTS routine. Thus, the action happens sometimes during the Middle Ages and you get the chance to witness great things, such as the rebellion of William Wallace, or the unification of the clans under a single king.
Gameplay-wise, on the other hand, the game resumes to cliches and it barely features any originality in this regard. As you would expect, you start with a small main building and you must gather resources, expand your base, and train an army in order to eliminate the enemy. This quickly gets repetitive, especially since the rest of the gameplay is not very fun either.
The disappointment sits with the fact that there’s not a lot of information concerning the units, other than their name and the price in resources. Hence, you either have to guess which work best against a particular type of enemy unit, or just rely on the good old principle of training only the most expensive troops. That way, the chances for you to fail are significantly reduced.
To spice things up a bit, the developers included a few weird units as well, including mages and druids. This is pretty strange, considering the fact that the rest of the story seems to be pretty accurate from a historical point of view. Even so, it’s nice to see something different for a change, even if the amusement only lasts for a few minutes.
All things considered, Highland Warriors is a mediocre game that tried something different, and it kind of failed, but not so hard as to be regarded as a total disaster. Hence, if you are in the mood for a bit of British history, this may very well prove to provide you with some fun, but don’t expect too much.
