There’s a lot of creativity left to be explored in the genre, and people are still trying to come up with new ideas.

Heroes Rise: The Prodigy is a text-based adventure game with role-playing elements, in which you get to control every aspect of the story and carefully take your character on the desired path to one of many possible endings. There are no graphics to distract you from the action, which can also be a drawback for some players, especially if you are used to the finer things in the genre.

In short, the story is all about heroes that have been turned into celebrities, which means that popularity is what matters the most to them. Your goal is to become an A-Lister, which is achieved by defeating villains and fighting gangs. Naturally, all sorts of other obstacles appear along the way, some of which are more difficult to navigate than others.

As it’s usually the case with CYOA games, you are free to customize every aspect of your character in the beginning, starting with the name and gender, all the way to sexual orientation and views on certain subjects. You can also influence your character’s personality along the way through the decisions you make, as well as maybe pursue a romantic relationship if you find the time.

There are multiple endings you can reach, depending of course on what you pursue throughout the story. You can be either good or bad, as well as somewhat in between, which means that there’s quite a bit of freedom at your disposal. Granted, the lack of graphics may prove to be a bit of an impediment for some players, but then again this is a trademark of the genre.

In the end, Heroes Rise: The Prodigy is a great way to practice your daydreaming and imagine yourself as a superhero. The plethora of choices allow you to go through the game multiple times without seeing the same thing twice.
