Despite the fact that helicopters are significantly smaller that most airplanes, they are much more difficult to fly, since they require very accurate coordination and a lot of experience. They are more susceptible to bad weather, due to the fact that wind can really affect its ability to steer and remain in the air.

Helicopter Simulator – Search and Rescue is a flight simulator that allows you to experience the thrill of being in the cockpit of a variety of helicopters, as well as participate in rescue missions all over the world and put their versatility to good use. Beside rescuing people from dangerous situations or isolated spots, it is also possible to fight forest fires and stop them from spreading to the nearby towns.

To make it more interesting, there are eight helicopter models that can be unlocked, each one of each has specific properties and different abilities that come in handy during the missions. Thus, while some models might be very effective in rescue scenarios, due to their stability and tolerance for rough conditions, they might not be very good when it comes to a fire, since they are not equipped to hold water or carry heavy loads.

However, the illusion sort of dissipates when you start flying for the first time, since the helicopters themselves do not take reality into account when it comes to aerodynamics, inertia or anything else. Thus, it really does not feel like a simulator, especially since the keyboard controls are rather difficult to handle and there aren't too many other options to try out, unfortunately.

The game also does a poor job with the graphics engine, since everything looks a bit old and it certainly does not adhere to next-gen standards. Beside the poor texture quality and the foggy special effects quality, the environments are very lackluster and sterile, which makes the flights very boring and mundane, without a beautiful view to admire from up in the sky.

Helicopter Simulator – Search and Rescue could have been a very original and interesting game, but the production was rushed and the developers seem to bee way too inexperienced to properly handle a title of this caliber. No one bothered to check how helicopters actually work, which makes for some pretty disappointing and annoying flight mechanics.
