Haures Demo
A horror game that pitches you into a randomly generated maze in which sinister ghouls stalk you #Horror game #Survival game #FPS horror #Horror #Survival #Maze
Slenderman has made it very clear that a good horror game can be built using simple graphics, basic mechanics and with a story that’s put together in two sentences. The success of the game was left to chance, the chance that your brain will conjure up the ramifications needed to make yourself scared.
Haures takes the same core concept but adds great graphics, superbly creepy audio effects and a bunch of other great stuff.
Haures is intended to be a Co-Op survival horror game in which you and a few buddies can roam around a randomly generated maze in search for the keys which will grant you freedom. To make things better, the game is developed using Unreal Engine 4 and it’s enough to understand that visually, it won’t disappoint. Moreover, yes, there’s always room for more good news, Haures offers support for Oculus DK2 which immerses you even more into the entire experience.
The game is in relatively young stages of development but even so, it seems very well polished when it comes to the main features.
In terms of atmosphere, Haures is excellent. Just like in Slender, you are left with no backstory as to how you got there and what’s going on so after you open the first door, you pretty much have to make sense of things by yourself.
All you have in your possession are a flashlight and a few glow sticks which you must use to navigate through the maze. An interesting feature is that the flashlight loses power every time a demonic presence is close to you, and there will be plenty of those.
In Haures you barely get a few seconds of peace and quiet which you can use to think about where you are and where you need to go. The constant pressure of the unknown that lurks in the shadows pushes you to move fast and in doing so you’re much more exposed to making mistakes.
Haures aims to focus most of its energy into the Co-Op mode. After all, everyone feels a bit braver when they're not alone, but then again it might be fun to sacrifice a friend or two so you can escape.
There is a lot on the ‘to-do list’ for Haures and all of it just adds up to its potential. Give the demo a try, see how it feels, count the scares and show your support on the Haures Greenlight page.
