Hard Reset Demo
Shoot your way through hordes of enemies and try to survive a dark and merciless world in this classic FPS #First-person shooter #Shoot monster #Cyberpunk future #Reset #Dystopia #Cyberpunk
Shooters gained a lot of realistic features in the last couple of years, but many have managed to lose most of their fun factor as well in the process. Back when FPS games were all about monsters and high scores, titles like Quake, Doom, and Half-Life defined the genre, which is where all the other games got their ideas from in the first place.
Hard Reset is a first-person shooter that refuses to adhere to the new standards and provides you with an adrenaline-infused experience instead, powered by huge weapons, even bigger monsters, and the usual linear levels that lead you to the final boss. The difficulty level is high and the enemies are tough, but once you get used to it, you get to see how shooters used to be like.
As far as the story is concerned, the events take place in some sort of dystopian future, combined with cyberpunk and a couple of other ideologies that result in a lot of darkness and plenty of intrigue. You are tasked with defending the last human city remaining in the world, Bezoar, which means that it needs to be protected from monsters and all sorts of bad things, using the biggest guns you can get your hands on.
To emphasize on the fact that the game is very similar to something you might have played back in 1998, the difficulty level is inhumane during some sequences, which might make it a bit hard to stomach for those who are not accustomed to it. There are plenty of ludicrous weapons you can make use of, however, not to mention the fact that you can combine their effects and obtain powerful combos.
As far as the visual quality is concerned, you can rest assured that the game looks quite nice, just as long as you do not mind high contrasts and dark environments, because that’s the characterizing theme throughout the levels. However, the textures and the shaders are quite potent, which makes for some very good-looking landscapes, not to mention the detailed enemies you have to put down.
Even if Hard Reset looks like it belongs in the 21th century, the core mechanics and the familiar gameplay make it clear that it may just as well have been released two decades ago. Hence, if you want to have some fun and smash some keyboards like it was done in the past, than this game is the right choice for you.
