Gundemonium Recollection is a remake of the original Gundemonium game from 2013, made by the famous Platine Dispositif developer.
Gundemonium Recollection is popularly placed in a category if games named “bullet hell” and for good reason. At any given time, most of the screen is filled with projectiles, either from the player or the enemies. It’s not easy to see what’s going on, but that’s actually the point in this kind of games. The players are bombarded with colors and effects to the point where they can’t tale it anymore.
If you’re new to these games, which are mostly made in Japan, you’re probably going to spend the first minutes wondering what’s happening. There is so much going on the screen that it seem you’re going to be killed immediately. That’s a pretty likely scenario, but with a little bit of practice it's not as difficult as it may seem.
There is a story behind Gundemonium Recollection, which also happens to be the first title in a series of three. It’s has something to do with alchemy in the 18th century, but nothing can be distinguished from the demo, which only has a single level.
Gundemonium Recollection is a shoot 'em up, and the players are always moving from left to right. The enemies are coming in droves, they leave power-ups occasionally, and the level ends with a boss fight.
There isn’t much to tell about this game, but if you’re a fan of the original game made all the way back in 2013, then you might enjoy this one as well.
I played the game with both a keyboard and a controller, and there is quite a difference between them. For some reason, the keyboard control was more responsive, but a lot more tiring. The controller, on the other hand, is much more intuitive, but it seemed to react slower.
The full games come with five levels, and two characters to choose from. An interesting feature is the ability to save the replay, which can be very useful if you want to see the mistakes that you’re making.
