Grom Demo
Defend your country from the Nazis and stop them from unleashing a variety of doomsday devices #Role-playing game #Real-time strategy #Action RPG #RPG #Role-play #Strategy
The second World War has been revisited countless times ever since it ended, whether in the form of books, memoirs, movies, or video games. They each try to provide you with a different perspective on the horrors, but there are only so many ways you can look at something without feeling bored after you see it a few hundred times.
Grom is a simple action-RPG in which you play the role of a Polish soldier named Grom, who must single-handedly stop the Nazis from getting the doomsday machines they’ve been keeping in Tibet. As you have probably already guessed, the game is not aiming too high from the start, so you can be certain that it doesn’t get any better if you keep on playing.
Speaking of which, the gameplay is rather dull and not very well polished, because there are plenty of annoyances to ruin your fun and more than enough mechanics that don’t work as intended. Hence, the fast-paced nature of the game is quite demanding when it comes to reflexes, but the interface and the controls make it difficult to interact with the characters or put any kind of tactics into practice.
As previously mentioned, there are many problems you can stumble into along the way, some of which make it very difficult to keep going. The combat is particularly annoying, because you have to keep clicking on the enemy most of the time in order to continue shooting. However, the same mouse button is used to move, so you often end up moving the character instead.
Visually, the game is quite simple and not very impressive, which is mostly visible when it comes to the animations and the models used for the units. However, the worst part is represented by the level design, because the playable areas are tiny and crowded, with barely anything interesting to see. They are packed with enemies and you cannot leave until every one of them is dead.
All things considered, Grom seems to take the worst from the two genres it tries to combine, so it obviously doesn’t amount to anything good. Hence, unless you have really tried everything else out there, you’d better skip this one and replay an old classic instead.
