Most adventure games feature some kind of mystery you have to investigate, not to mention the fact that you also have to save the world at the same time, or at the very least rescue one of your friends from danger. It’s an old formula that has been used hundreds of time before, but it can always work one more time of the writers add some interesting twists along the way.

Grim Tales: Graywitch is another episode in the Grim Tales series, and it features just as many weird monsters and engaging situations, although the gameplay mechanics are the same as in all the other games. Fortunately, that means you can jump straight into the story and not worry about learning the ropes again, although there is a tutorial included just in case you are new to the series.

As mentioned before, the story includes a terrible monster and a kidnapping. Naturally, your mission is to rescue the person in danger and get the beast before it hurts someone else, which is no easy task. To make things even better, the whole thing takes place in some kind of alternate reality, and it’s quite exciting to explore a world where everyone appears to wear masks and magic is a very real thing.

The game is split into scenes and areas, which means that every area has multiple scenes you can investigate. Looking for the objects you need in order to solve other puzzles is not a very pleasant experience after you do it for hours on end, especially since the formula is always the same. However, the puzzles can be pretty engaging under the right conditions, even if they are very simple.

Lastly, the graphics are very nice when it comes to level design and artwork, especially since you can admire a variety of interesting landscapes along the way. Various creatures make an appearance as well, and the objects you handle are as detailed as they can get under the circumstances. Moreover, the voice acting completes the experience, even if the actors are not always giving the best performances.

In the end, Grim Tales: Graywitch may not feature a very original story, but the experience is very engaging, not to mention the fact that the puzzles are quite nicely done. Thus, it should be a great adventure for the fans of the genre.
