Green Heart Demo
Play the role of a monster for a change and see what it takes to make it in a world that judges creatures based on appearance. #Role-playing game #Fantasy RPG #Adventure game #Role-play #Monster #Adventure
There are many creatures in video games that seem to receive no mercy whatsoever, regardless of situation or circumstances. Zombies must always be killed, and so do many of the classic fantasy creatures out there, such as orcs, ogres or goblins. Granted, some stories feature a few good green skins as well, but they are nowhere near as popular as elves or dwarves.
Green Heart is a top-down RPG in which you play the role of a monster for a change, and you must help him and his friends survive an adventure without ending up as cannon fodder for some heroes eager to prove themselves. It’s not an overly complex game when it comes to story and gameplay mechanics, but at least it features an interesting starting point.
As for the actual mechanics, they resemble a classic RPG system, in the sense that you have to improve your characters along the way by completing quests and defeating foes. Naturally, quests are an important part of the experience as well, since they also help you move the story along and watch the events unfold. Hence, RPG fans should be quite familiar with everything from the first few minutes.
Since the game is party-based, you have to unite your forces with a variety of other characters along the way, each one of which has different special abilities. As you might imagine, they are also monsters, so the final team looks quite scary, although not in the conventional way. It’s great to see something different for a chance, especially after so many RPGs just fed us the same formula over and over again.
As for the graphics, don’t expect anything too fancy from a technical point of view, but the actual artwork is pretty nice and colorful. In fact, the game world looks very inviting and even dreamy sometimes, which is always great if you want to get lost in the atmosphere. The music is original as well, although it’s not very memorable in any way.
In the end, Green Heart may not be a genre-defining RPG, but at least it allows you to experience classic fantasy tropes from an unusual perspective. Moreover, the artwork is cozy and quite memorable as well.
