Gravity Core Demo
Destroy the alien forces and rescue humans from strange planets in this arcade shooter with physics-driven gameplay #2D shooter #Spaceship shooter #Alien shooter #Gravity #Core #Spaceship
Arcade shooters are only fun as long as they manage to keep the gameplay challenging and rewarding over the course of the entire game, otherwise the gimmick gets old quite quickly. However, with a strong set of gameplay mechanics and enough content, such games can keep you playing for extended periods of time, even if the action is not as complex or good-looking as it is in triple-A games.
Gravity Core is a good example of how to make the gameplay addictive and challenging at the same time, because it features a really nifty set of mechanics to catch you in its spell from the very first few minutes. Hence, the entire gameplay is physics-driven and it requires a lot of skill and patience in order to get right, which means that every second you spend playing it you get better at the game.
As far as the story is concerned, the plot takes place in the future and it talks about a mining colony somewhere in the Mars-Jupiter asteroid belt. As it happens, a race of vicious aliens have attacked the colony and they have infiltrated the underground complex. Since only your ship is small enough to fit in, you must try to rescue as many miners as possible, as well as destroy the enemies you stumble along the way.
The tractor beam can be used to rescue civilians, while the lasers obviously come in handy if you need to blast alien spaceships. However, since things get considerably tougher as you manage to complete the missions, you can use all the help you can get, including ship upgrades. Thus, a variety of improvements are available, whether to make the ship more fuel efficient, increase its firepower, or make it more resistant to enemy lasers.
As far as the graphics quality is concerned, the 2D perspective might not look like much at a first sight, but the environments are detailed enough and quite intricate, which should give you plenty to look at. Not only that, but the levels are actually randomly generated every time you start a new campaign, which means that they never look the same no matter how often you decide to replay the game.
When it’s all said and done, Gravity Core is definitely one of the better releases you can get for the money, especially if you are a fan of the genre. The physics are top-notch and fun to learn how to handle, the levels are random and always full of enemies, while the ship can be upgraded with a variety of new gimmicks to make your job easier.
