Ghosts ’n DJs

Ghosts ’n DJs is a sidescroller inspired by the classic Ghosts’n Goblins but adapted to today’s times and taken story-wise to an entirely new and entertaining direction. In this game you will be playing as Dr. Kucho, a renown DJ and producer who has to fight off an army of fake DJs that have taken over the world with what he considers to be bad music.

The goal of the game, as with any sidescroller, is to fight your way through the swarms of enemies that spawn everywhere and keep pushing to the right side of the screen until you reach your goal.

Controls are simple and excellent in terms of response and the graphics are top-notch. To the latter, extra attention has been given and you can see that in every pixel. Ghosts ’n DJs is meant to emulate the visual style of how pixels looked on a CRT screen from back in the day when sidescrollers were genre to play.

High frame rate and quality animations for both you and the enemies allow the game to be wonderfully fast paced. At times the bad DJs spawn in the most unfavorable sections of the level, making you hit the keyboard frantically, breaking more than just a sweat.

Ghosts ’n DJs is clearly the manifestation of one man’s opinion on what the music industry has become and it is shared with the world in a way that is both humorous, entertaining and in a lot of ways, true.

Of course, there is that thin line which some of you might feel is crossed when you get to meet the enemy DJs. By name, they are Devil Gueta, Steve Sushi, Paris Sheraton, Pauly Douchebag and PitBullshit. Shots were fired, right?

Each of the aforementioned has his or her unique attack and when you kill them, they transform into an exploding pile of money (yes that is a clever and not so subtle hint as to how some of today’s DJs are undeserving of their fame). Moreover, there are power-ups to collect for bonus points and new weapons to equip, vinyls, CDs and pen drives.

To sum things up, Ghosts ’n DJs is a game that was created with the intention of being fun to play. At that, it’s a complete success thanks to its great visual style, challenging nature, funny characters and much more. Even the game difficulty selection is unique and hilarious.
