Building stuff from scratch is a fun activity for most people, not to mention the added benefit of improving your creativity while you’re at it. Video games that incorporate sandbox elements tend to remain fun for long periods of time, which is because of the unconstrained gameplay that encourages you to keep coming up with new ideas. As such, games like Minecraft are here to stay, and they’ll only get better and better with time.

Game About Vehicles is still fresh and unpolished, but it can turn into a decent product if the developers keep making it better. As the name clearly states, the game is about building all sorts of vehicles from a variety of parts, in order to use them as means to explore the environment. The module variation is not very satisfying as of right now, but there are enough of them to keep you busy for a while.

You play the role of a robot that seems stuck on a strange planet, although there are plenty of materials around you to rapidly build a vehicle. Whether you want something with wheels or you are more fond of scouring the lands from above the clouds, the choice is yours to make. Obviously, you must keep in mind that some designs may not be fit to fly, because there’s a physics engine in place to calculate things like gravity and air resistance.

While the number of modules you have at your disposal is not exactly huge, you at least have the possibility to customize them and tweak their characteristics. Hence, you can end up with a different design every time and have something to look forward to each time you start a new game session. Naturally, there’s a long way to go until complete freedom, but it’s a good start.

As far as the technical aspect is concerned, the game uses the Unity engine to render the graphics and simulate the physics. Hence, it certainly looks good and there’s room for heavy improvements, but don’t expect anything too groundbreaking either. In fact, some of the models look a bit sketchy and the environments are way too barren to be any fun as of yet, but that can be easily fixed with a bit more work.

Game About Vehicles has what it needs to evolve into something great, except maybe for a proper production team. The game lacks detail and content as of right now, but you can still have fun with it and put your mind to work when you feel the creativity train approaching.
