Hidden object games have come a long way over the years and they managed to evolve into something much more engaging. Hence, there are barely any true “hidden object” flicks out there, because most games feature all sorts of gameplay elements and puzzles. It wouldn’t be the end of the world for a game to go back to the basics, but the fans probably won’t be cheered.
Frankenstein: The Village is a hidden object game with a few puzzles added for taste, in which you have to help a couple get out of a bad jam. As mentioned before, the game looks and plays like something from a few years ago, which means that it features mistakes that were removed a long time ago. Unfortunately, you’ll have to deal with them in order to enjoy the adventure.
Speaking of which, it all revolves around Janet and Brad, a couple that decides to go on a relaxing vacation somewhere quiet and beautiful. However, their car breaks down on the way, and it just so happens that they stop right in the town of Frankenstein Burg. Thus, all manner of weird stuff start to happen, all while the two lovers are trying their best to get out of town.
The hidden object scenes are about as classic as they can get, which means that your only concern is to pinpoint every item on the list. There are no added mini-games or other interactive bits to enjoy, so it might get boring for those who are accustomed to a bit more action. Thankfully, there are puzzles to take your mind off things, but even those are pretty straightforward and tasteless most of the time.
As far as the graphics are concerned, the game certainly doesn’t look bad, but it lacks the polish needed to make the locations and the story memorable. Hence, while most items and landscapes are quite detailed and smooth, everything looks a bit bland, like it was glued together in a rush. There’s no voice acting either, so you’ll have to make due with text only.
While Frankenstein: The Village is not necessarily a bad game, the developers did not really try to make it pleasant. Hence, if you want to remember how stiff hidden object games were a couple of years ago, this should refresh your memory. NOTE: This is a downloader for the game.
