Forward to the Sky is a third-person action adventure developed and published by Animu Game.
Players might notice that Forward to the Sky has a number of similarities with one of the most beloved franchises of all times, The Legend of Zelda. It’s not something that’s obvious, but the game might remind fans of that series. On the other hand, Forward to the Sky is very different from and Zelda games, and it’s more focused on action more than anything else.
Third person action games don’t leave a lot of room for other features, and Forward to the Sky is not the kind of title that will challenge users, but there are some puzzle elements that could prove a little bit more difficult than they let on. The game is not meant to be difficult, and players will probably enjoy the overall experience.
The Japanese influences are obvious right from the get-go, but that’s not really an issue. The artwork is bizarre enough to become likable. The storyline is not all that boring, but it won’t win any awards either. There are tales about a tower in the sky in which lived an evil witch. One day, she stole the crystals from the people living in the tower and disappeared. Now the tower has returned, and you’re trying to find out why and to get back the crystals.
The players take on the role of a small girl, not sure why, and she starts climbing the ruins of the tower. She’s facing numerous enemies, and she has to solve various environment puzzles in order to progress further. Also, she has to gather all the crystals along the way, which can be found either in the defeated enemies or inside statues.
As I was saying, it’s not a really difficult game, but some of the puzzles will require a moment of the player’s time. Forward to the Sky is built on the Unity engine, and it looks fairly good, but it would have benefited from a better engine, like Unreal for example.
Forward to the Sky is an enjoyable experience, even if it lacks any kind of depth, both for the gameplay and the story.
