Flying Heroes Demo
Take part in intense aerial battles as you ride dragons and various other kinds of machinery in this arena-based shooter #First-person shooter #Flight simulator #Arena shooter #Fly #Hero #FPS
Arena shooters are usually fast-paced and extremely popular with the crowds, as long as the gameplay mechanics are fun and addictive. Naturally, titles like Quake III and Unreal Tournament come to mind, because they are the most obvious examples in the genre, as well as the most revolutionary when it comes to implementing the right gameplay elements.
Flying Heroes strays a bit from the original formula and it tries to bring a drop of novelty to the genre, by integrating multiple interesting gimmicks in a radical way. Hence, rather than running around on foot, you get to fly in various types of vehicles, or even ride some kind of lizards. The flying vehicles are the center point of the gameplay, however, so you certainly need to learn how to handle them.
The rest of the game is spent trying to kill the other players, because it is an arena shooter after all. In the career mode, your task is to slowly move from one league to the other, by beating the other players and fragging them as much as you can. During the matches, some other rules are enforced as well, such as the fact that you are rewarded with two frags every time you happen to kill the current leader.
A few different character classes are available as well, which have an influence on the selection of spells you can use. These spells are quite strong and they can change the outcome of a match, if they are used correctly and at the right time. Obviously, the four classes are pretty balanced, so no one is at a disadvantage because of the choice they made.
Visually, the game does not look bad at all, especially when you consider the year it was released in. A lot of detail went into the flying machines, while the environments are nice enough not to poke your eyes off. A decent soundtrack plays in the background as well, which can substantially improve the atmosphere if you have nothing better to listen to.
In the end, Flying Heroes’ greatest strength is the fact that it is different from most of the other games out there, which makes it appealing. However, the mechanics are not very well polished and the singleplayer campaign could have used a lot more refining, especially when it comes to the story.
