Fiery Disaster Demo
Defend your base and kill as many enemies as you can in this rather slow-paced tower defense game #Tower defense #Arcade game #Strategy game #Defense #Defend #Strategy
Sometimes simple ideas can be perfect for certain scenarios, depending on what the public is expecting. Hence, not all video games need to feature complex gameplay mechanics in order to attract a huge player base, since there are many counterexamples out there to prove that. On the other hand, the simplicity must have a purpose, otherwise it’s better classified as laziness.
Fiery Disaster is a tower defense game in which your goal is to shoot enemies before they reach your base. Unlike most tower defense games out there, on the other hand, this one forces you to manually control the aim and shoot only when you are sure of it. Although it sounds nice in theory, the truth is that the game is very rough at the moment, not to mention repetitive and boring.
As such, it all revolves around some kind of scientist who lives in a volcano and decides to bring the nearby village the miracle of technology. However, the villagers become enraged at him for some reason and decide to attack his house in the volcano. Naturally, the scientist defends himself by hurling burning rocks into the hordes of peasants, and you are the one in charge of the catapult.
One of the most annoying gameplay gimmicks is the fact that the cannon overheats after only three or four volleys, and it takes a relatively long time to cool down. Hence, the action appears quite fast-paced at first, but it turns out that you are not allowed to keep up with it, which is frustrating. On top of that, the game practically laughs at you and challenges you with many units at once, which cannot be handled because your cannon overheats.
It’s also worth mentioning that the game is pretty early in development, yet that’s no excuse for its flaws. Although these can obviously be fixed, it’s quite weird to release such an empty and unpolished game to the public, because nothing good can come out of it. Both the developer and the players know what the game is missing, so it’s difficult to agree that it was released in order to receive advice on how to proceed.
All things considered, Fiery Disaster might just be a hit sometime in the future, but the current demo is in no way proof of that, because it contains nothing exciting or original. Thus, it has a long way to go until it can provide anyone with a bit of entertainment or joy.
