Taking your time when it comes to solving puzzles is a great way to get more involved in the atmosphere, although it depends on the difficulty of the said puzzles. Even if you have to move basic block around to obtain crude pixel artwork, the challenge of the puzzles is what keeps you coming back for more, especially if there are enough levels to tackle.
Fantasy Mosaics 19: Edge of the World is part of the lengthy nonogram puzzle series that challenges you to yet another adventure together with the penguin family. Barely anything has changed since the last couple of entries in the series, so it should be easy to get right down to it if you have enjoyed the previous games in the franchise.
The story can be completely ignored if you wish to do so, especially since it doesn’t actually have an impact on the gameplay. However, the story is not very important in a game such as this one, and it’s obvious that the developers thought so as well. Hence, it’s much more vital that there are plenty of levels and a nice difficulty curve to keep you on edge at all times.
In case you are not familiar with this type of games, the goal is to fill each cell in the grid with the correct color, and you do this by following the numbers near every row and column. This is fairly straightforward at first, but things get a lot tougher along the way. It seems like there are no luck-based situations, which are the main hiccup in the genre, so at least you know that there’s always a clear solution.
Lastly, the graphics are nothing to write home about either, especially not when it comes to the quality of the textures. Thankfully, the pixelated artwork you have to create is pretty nice, although sometimes the drawings are too abstract to have any meaning. The soundtrack keeps your mind from wandering, even if it too can get repetitive after some time.
In the end, there’s no sign that the Fantasy Mosaics series is ever going to end, which is not a bad thing at all. However, it just feels exactly the same as the rest of the episodes, so boredom might make an appearance along the way. NOTE: This is a downloader for the game.
