False Hope Demo
Make new friends in a sci-fi world and pick the desired route through the story in this interactive visual novel #Visual novel #Interactive visual #Adventure game #Novel #Adventure #Sci-fi
There’s no shortage of post-apocalyptical scenarios in the movie and video game world, but there’s certainly a lot of room left for good ones. Simply putting a few semi-interesting characters in the middle of a wasteland is not enough to make the audience cheer for them, especially not when the background story is very weak or lacking entirely, but video games have it easier in this regard.
False Hope is an interesting visual novel that allows you to pick from multiple characters at the beginning of the story, as well as steer the plot in the desired direction. This allows you to go through the experience multiple times without getting bored in the process, although this is still a demo at this point, so there’s not an awful lot of content for players to chew on for more than an hour or so.
As mentioned before, you can pick your character at the start, but there’s no way to customize their name or appearance. There are two males and two females to choose from, each one of whom has a different personality. Granted, you are still in charge of how they respond to certain events, so their personality is ultimately left up to you most of the time.
Since dialog is a big chunk of the game, there are many other characters you can meet throughout the story, some of which can become close friends or even more than that. It all depends on what you say or do, and the number of choices is proportional to the number of main characters at your disposal, which should allow you to get quite a bit of fun out of the whole experience.
Visually, False Hope is not particularly striking, unfortunately, at least not in the backdrop department. Most of the artwork appears to be rather basic and washed out, often with not much detail in it. However, the characters are much better designed, which in turn makes them stand out too much on top of the backdrops. This is bound to be fixed in later versions, however, because this is merely a demo at this point.
It’s the ability to pick different routes that keeps False Hope from becoming too monotone, so it definitely deserves a shot if you are a fan of the genre. Hence, you should keep an eye on the project as it develops.
