False Elegy Demo
Cleanse the world of evil in this interesting visual novel that throws you into a world full of demons #Visual novel #Role-playing game #Adventure game #Novel #Role-play #Adventure
Fantasy worlds are fairly easy to get into if they are well-written, especially if they allow the readers/players to really identify with the protagonist. Even if the story features ludicrous concepts like magic or demons, making them more relatable can really blur the line between what’s real and what’s not. On the other hand, it’s not easy to achieve this, especially nowadays with so many choices to pick from.
False Elegy is an interesting visual novel that allows you to enter a weird world and try to make sense of it while also interacting with a variety of characters. In short, the action takes place in a world where everything is split between good and evil, including the creatures that inhabit it. There’s not much of a gray area at first, but things evolve as the story progresses.
The action revolves around Ascendants, a race of divine creatures that live up in the skies, way above mortal humans. Although they look fairly godly from down below, they have their problems, including fallen Ascendants who are considered evil or even insane. The plot starts when these creatures start a project called Divinity, which aims to rehabilitate these fallen creatures.
You play the role of Areon, an Ascendant who becomes part of the project, except that a fallen by the name of Ark catches his attention. Things evolve into what you probably expect, since the two end up working together and trying to resolve the differences between them. It’s not a very original plot, but the setting and the world are fairly engaging and new, which helps with the atmosphere.
Speaking of which, the artwork is truly sublime most of the time, especially when it comes to the backgrounds, which are very detailed and nicely drawn to create the proper atmosphere every time. On top of that, the character design is great as well, since every character comes with multiple poses and facial expressions. This is still a demo, on the other hand, so don’t expect a lot of content at the moment.
In the end, False Elegy might not feature the most original story mechanics out there, but it’s fairly engaging, not to mention interesting. Thus, it might even make a lot more sense by the time the full version comes out.
