Fairy Bloom Freesia Demo
Use devastating combos and the power of magic to protect the forest from evil creatures #Fairy Bloom #Combo Action #Beat 'em Up Game #Fairy #Bloom #Freesia
As many of you are probably aware, oriental video games have the unique ability to be incredibly violent and incredibly adorable at the same time. Hence, small girls with big eyes can unleash savage attacks and be the architects of countless bloodbaths, while still looking like they are on their way back from school.
The same is true for the title at hand, Fairy Bloom Freesia, since the main character is a small and fragile-looking fairy with green hair and a summer dress. However, once the enemies make their appearance on screen, the little girl turns into a meat grinder and she can employ a wide variety of special attacks to kick, punch, slash, and eviscerate them at will.
There is a background story running while all this is happening, but it’s thin and not of too much consequence to the actual gameplay. Hence, the name of the fairy is Freesia and she must protect the Lita forest from evil, which are usually just grayish blobs. The action takes place in restrained environments and you must survive a fixed number of enemy waves before the day is over, in order to move on.
To make matters more interesting and give you a sense of accomplishment, each enemy you kill provides you with mana, which can then be spent in the intermission screen. Here, you have the option to purchase new special abilities, choose the ones you want to equip, or just take a look at the stats of your character. The RPG mechanics are a nice touch and they really make the experience feel worthwhile.
As far as the visual chapter is concerned, the graphics are not exactly state-of-the-art, but the get the point across and they are as colorful as you would expect from a production like this. The main character is nicely animated and the special effects could put an eye out, but the enemies are nowhere near as detailed and repetition kicks in after a while.
Fairy Bloom Freesia may be somewhat addictive and fun when played for a few minutes at end, but the magic slowly dissipates once you see that the environment changes way too rarely and the enemies are the same for long stretches of time. Hence, the experience can be entertaining, as long as you do not overextend your stay.
