Granted, a bit of conflict is what keeps the action from getting too predictable and boring, so there’s usually quite a lot of drama involved.

Fables of the Kingdom II is a classic time management in which you have to go on a quest and rebuild villages as you are traveling through a colorful world. The mechanics do not deviate at all from what you might have experienced in other games in the genre, but they are certainly polished. Hence, it should be easy to start playing right away, although there’s a tutorial in place for total beginners as well.

The story revolves around a brave hero who has to go on a journey in order to save King Artos from a curse that threatens to put an end to his life. It’s important to find some kind of magic armor that is up to the task, which is yet another adventure to keep you engaged. Granted, it’s not very important to pay attention to the story in order to solve the levels.

Every level features a different objective, although the main goal is to gather resources and rebuild a couple of structures around the map. Upgrading already existing structures is important as well, because this allows you to get more resources and speed  up the process. More workers help with the construction if you upgrade the main building, although it’s not cheap.

The graphics impress when it comes to map detail and the quality of the models, especially since every level features a different map and a new scenery. You also visit multiple types of environments along the way, so you do not get the chance to get bored of what you see. Even the static cutscenes feature gorgeous artwork, and the soundtrack keeps the mood pretty light throughout the adventure.

Even if Fables of the Kingdom II does not bring anything new in terms of gameplay, it can certainly keep you busy for a few hours.
