Superpowers are quite common in movies and video games, because people like to see extraordinary feats of strength and agility. However, controlling objects with the power of your mind is the ultimate goal, probably because it appears to be the most effortless. Telekinesis is already rumored to be practiced by certain individuals, although such claims have remained unsubstantiated as of now.

ExtraGalactic is an interesting arcade game designed to be both fun and challenging at the same time. It requires you to move quickly and deal with a handful of puzzles, in order to score as many points as you can. The game still needs a lot of polishing before it can transform into something good, but there are some interesting ideas at work, which have the potential to catch the attention of many gamers.

To begin with, you are greeted by a familiar platformer point of view, although the graphics are three-dimensional. The forced perspective makes it easier to deal with the mechanics, which are basically the same as in every other platformer. In essence, you have to run as fast as possible from one end of the level to the other, while dealing with enemies and puzzles in between.

Your character has the ability to move objects without touching them, which comes in handy when you have to deal with enemies. In fact, one of the main goals is to keep a certain object from touching the ground at all times, while using it to neutralize enemies and pick up the energy balls scattered around the level. It takes a bit of practice to do so, and it’s even more challenging if you decide to use a controller.

As far as the visual quality is concerned, the game uses Unity as its engine, so it looks more than decent. The level design is still a bit disappointing, but the setting holds a lot of promise. As mentioned above, there are a couple of control issues that must be dealt with, not to mention the fact that you often feel like you are struggling to keep your character in check.

All things considered, ExtraGalactic has the potential to turn into something exciting, as long as the developers keep working on it. The underlying concept is intriguing, and the gameplay holds a lot of promise for hardcore platformer fans.
