Eternal Hope Demo
Try to bring your beloved back to life by accepting a seemingly impossible quest in this interesting platformer #Action platformer #Adventure game #Puzzle game #Platformer #Puzzle #Adventure
Platformers and puzzles go very well together if the mixture is done in good taste, and there are plenty of examples to prove that, including names like Braid and Limbo. Hence, as long as the game has a solid concept at its core, players can have a lot of fun solving puzzles and following the story. However, the gameplay must be pretty fun as well, otherwise people might lose interest.
Eternal Hope is a 2D platformer with wonderful artwork and a pretty interesting story, in which you have to navigate treacherous environments and solve a variety of puzzles. The puzzles in question are not very complicated, at least not in the demo, but you can get a kick out of the platforming bits every now and again. The story is pretty interesting, even if it’s quite simple.
As such, you play the role of a young man whose beloved has died recently, yet he cannot get used to the idea. Thankfully, he is awarded a chance to bring her back, but the task is not as simple as making a wish. Instead, he has to find pieces of her soul and put it back together, and as you might have guessed, soul pieces are found in a different world altogether.
Your character has a special ability that can be activated for a few seconds, which reveals a different reality underneath the one you inhabit. This can be used to reveal hidden platforms or entrances that allow you to move forward, and it’s imperative that you make use of the power to overcome certain obstacles. There are also enemies you must either avoid or trick in order to make it past them.
As for the artwork, the game certainly looks nice, even if it’s obviously inspired by games like Limbo and Ori and the Blind Forest. The backgrounds can be a tad too empty sometimes, which causes the experience to feel repetitive, but the level design is quite nice, overall. The soundtrack helps a lot with the atmosphere as well, which is always a plus.
All things considered, Eternal Hope shows a lot of promise, but it’s a bit too short and empty to say whether it’s going to be a hit or not. Thus, as long as much more content is planned for the full version, this could certainly impress a few people.
