Escape Doodland: Invader Dash Demo

Chase sequences are always exciting in movies or video games, even if we already know how they end, depending on when in the story they happen. Hence, it’s quite clear that the guy escapes if the chase takes place in the beginning, but if the villain is trying to run away toward the end, then it’s obvious that there’s no way he is escaping.

Escape Doodland: Invader Dash is a fast-paced platformer in which your goal is to jump, climb walls and cast special abilities in order to escape the monster that’s chasing you. You cannot stop or directly control the main character’s movement, on the other hand, which means that there’s no way to speed up or slow down if you happen to require something like that.

There’s not much of a story to pay attention to, mainly because everything is designed to be as simple as possible. Hence, the action takes place in a world called Doodland, and your mission is to escape the monster and make it out of Doodland alive. It’s even possible to change characters, also known as doodlers, which can be bought with in-game currency.

The gameplay is pretty precise and responsive most of the time, although there are situations that require more concentration in order to make it past the obstacles. The special abilities come in handy as well, especially if you want to take advantage of an extra large jump, or if you want to make the monster disappear for a few seconds when you need it the most.

The graphics are not bad either, although they actually look like random doodles sometimes. The funky style works wonders for the atmosphere, on the other hand, especially if you don’t care that much about visuals. The sound effects are pretty wonky as well, which means that you can easily get in the groove and have a great time.

Although Escape Doodland: Invader Dash is not that hardcore, it still requires a bit of patience in order to complete some of the levels. Moreover, the controls are very precise and smooth, so you’ve got only yourself to blame if something goes wrong.
