Eryi's Action Demo
Help Eryi recover her melon in this extreme platformer with traps hidden at every step #Recover melon #Arcade platformer #Classic sidescroller #Eryi #Action #Trap
Platformers are known for being punishing and sometimes even unfair, given the fact that they require lightning-quick reflex and very sensitive eyes. However, most of them manage to remain accessible to almost everyone, even if they contain some tricky levels. Over the years, some titles even started to get recognition for being incredibly difficult, such is the case with The Oregon Trail.
Eryi's Action certainly does not relay the same message when you first start playing, since everything is quite colorful and the main character is a cute little girl in a skirt. However, things get quite clear after the first few minutes, when you realize that everything in this game was programmed to kill you when you least expect it, in the most ridiculous ways imaginable.
The story is not incredibly important, nor is it emphasized on inside the game. Eryi is just a girl that goes on a quest to find her melon, which was stolen from her a while back. In essence, everything about this release is incredibly similar to the Super Mario series, including the level design, the enemies, and even the graphic animations, in some regards.
If you happen to touch something nasty, you die, that's the general idea. This would be fine, since everyone can learn to recognize the nasty things and avoid them, but the game at hand doesn’t not give you the courtesy of showing you the danger beforehand. Spikes and carnivore plants appear out of nowhere while you are simply walking around, giant objects fall on you when you walk by them and some ‘bonus’ levels are instant death traps.
Theoretically, the game is purposely design to break you, since you have no way of seeing the tricks coming until it is too late. Trial and error is the only way to advance, because you can learn where the traps are and avoid them without having to see them in the first place. This obviously means that each section requires multiple playthroughs, at least until you reach the next checkpoint.
All things considered, Eryi's Action is definitely not for those who take everything too seriously, given the fact that you wouldn’t last two minutes playing it without giving up. However, if you just want to marvel at the sight of pure evil, then you can certainly lose a few hours trying to beat this, just to admire the ingenuity behind the traps.
