End Of The Mine Demo
Find out where your miner friends have vanished and explore a strange new planet #Mining game #2D platformer #2D shooter #Platformer #Shooter #2D
End Of The Mine is yet another 2D platformer, but with a twist. All the action is underground, on an alien planet.
Most of the 2D platformers that are launched today are trying to look like they were released a couple of decades ago, but End Of The Mine is different in this regard. It uses a modern engine and unusual artwork. It has a more modern look, and, even if it doesn’t have the best graphics, it is still pretty enjoyable to play.
The game had a Kickstarter campaign, but they couldn’t get the necessary funds. From the looks of it, they are still trying to make it happen, and it will likely take a little bit longer. The developers from Skirmish Entertainment are not giving up on the game, and, in fact, they managed to get it accepted in Steam.
You take on the role of a miner that partied one night too hard and found out the next day that all his mates are gone. He’s alone, on an alien planet, and he has to explore the underground caves to find out what happened to them.
As you can imagine, the place is full of enemy creatures that want to kill you, and they are very nimble. They don’t seem to follow predefined path, and remaining alive requires constant work, even with a powerful shield.
You start with a pickaxe and a weapon with infinite ammo, and it’s pretty hand in the beginning, but later weapons will prove to be much more efficient. Also, the level design seems to be almost open, and with no clear direction to the end, which means that you’ll have to explore the caverns extensively.
End Of The Mine doesn’t stand out. Is not a bad thing, but it would have been nice to see something different for a change. The game is built on the Unity engine, but the animations are now all that great, the hit detection hasn’t been refined, and the gameplay feels chaotic from time to time.
Since End Of The Mine is coming to Steam in October 2016, this demo might give you an idea of what the finished game will be.
