Hence, sometimes swords and strong armors are not enough to escape from the clutches of evil, but you can still use your wits to get out of a jam if the situation is dire. Video games are great when it comes to this, especially puzzle flicks that put your imagination to the test.

Enchanted Kingdom: A Dark Seed is a hidden object adventure game in which you play the role of an investigator trying to figure out how to stop a dangerous disease from spreading and collapsing an entire empire. The mechanics are the same you might have experienced in all the other HOPAs on the market, but at least the puzzles are entertaining and quite challenging.

As far as the story is concerned, you start by investigating the strange illness, and the mystery keeps you engaged all the way to the end. The plot takes a few turns along the way as well, so it’s not a very linear or predictable experience. On the other hand, it’s not the most exciting tale out there yet, especially if you are used to the finer things or if you have ever come in contact with a book.

As far as the puzzles are concerned, they do not really feature new gameplay mechanics or ingenious solutions, but they are fairly challenging and enjoyable. Thus, most of the time you just have to find the right pattern and apply it until the riddle is solved. You also have the opportunity to switch to a match-three mini-game if you do not manage to find the correct solution.

The graphics are gorgeous as usual, especially when it comes to the landscapes and the level of detail in every scene. On top of it all, there are all sorts of special effects and nice colors added on top to create a proper fantasy atmosphere. Even the soundtrack goes along nicely with the events, although the voice acting is a bit sloppy every now and again.

All things considered, Enchanted Kingdom: A Dark Seed is a pretty straightforward HOPA with no original elements in terms of gameplay, but it’s a fun and enjoyable adventure.
